The Kroc Center Ramps Up Community Relief Efforts in The Wake of COVID-19

Jul 29, 2020

The Salvation Army Kroc continues to offer support to those affected by the Coronavirus.

Because of our community’s generous donations, The Kroc Center was able to offer many outreach efforts in Kootenai County over the last four and a half months, including:
• 90 Nights of Shelter
• 1,475 Local Families Fed
• 9,000 Masks Provided
• 2,544 Hours of Child Care Provided
• 13,900 Emotional Support Phone Calls
• $32,688 in Assistance to Those Out of Work

Within the last few weeks alone, one man lost his job and had no resources to look for work or create a resume. We were able to offer a computer, internet access, and someone to encourage him as he struggled with the words to put on a resume.

One single mom of three came to us on her lowest day. Desperate to get to work one day, her car would not start. We were able to take her car to our mechanic and help with childcare expenses.
Another woman lost her husband last year and is now raising her two grandchildren on her own. She is 70 years old and works nights full-time. We were able to help pay for groceries and utilities and connected her with a support group.

The stories above are just a small example of the big impact The Kroc Center has had for our community members in need. “We want to put the message out there that EVERYONE is welcome here,” shares Kip Sharbono, Center Director. “It is our honor to serve hurting individuals on your behalf with prayer, compassion, and whatever assistance their specific situation calls for.”

The Kroc Center is ramping up emergency outreach as we head into the fall and new needs arise. We are working with our community partners to help meet some of the gaps in the following areas:
• Food
• Shelter
• Prescription Assistance
• Utilities Assistance
• Rent Assistance

If you need assistance or know someone that does, call The Kroc Center Hotline at 208.763.0777.
