Whether you're a competitive athlete or just like to wade, we've got something for everyone! What's in store? Well, we've got a top-of-the-line 25yd x 25m Myrtha Technology competition pool, a one-of-a-kind leisure pool, an indoor and outdoor hot tub, a lazy river, and a sundeck. Our Aquatics Department, complete with American Red Cross Certified instructors and coaches are dedicated to providing quality classes and training no matter your age or ability.
Adult Learn to Swim was chosen as one of 38 adult programs in 24 states from the USA Swimming Foundation’s nationwide network of swim lesson providers to receive grant money in early 2024. This year, the USA Swimming Foundation has awarded a total of $780,000 to programs across the country.
According to the CDC, the risk of drowning in the United States is one out of every ten people. Additionally, 37% of American adults are not capable of swimming the length of the pool, which puts them at risk of being part of the drowning statistic. Adult Learn to Swim is designed to help adults feel comfortable in and around the water. Participants will work with trained instructors, learning how to swim and how to be safe in/around the water. The goal of ALTS is to create a safe and comfortable environment for adults to come and learn to swim.
• No Running: We know kids have unlimited energy and want to race in the second they see the water. Walking is the best way to prevent slips, trips, and easily preventable injuries. Please remind your children to walk to, from, and around the pool and up the stairs at all times.
• No Diving In The Pool Head First: The Cove Pool does not have any area deep enough to safely dive headfirst. You're always welcome to jump in feet first, in appropriate areas, as long as you do it away from the wall.
• Feet First Down The Yellow Slide: For your safety you must always go down feet first. You may sit up or lay down but spinning and turning around are not safe or allowed. Please remember to exit the splash pool when you land.
• Life Jackets Are Allowed*: When worn properly a life jacket is buttoned across the chest and tight enough to keep the child's head above water comfortably. Life jackets are not floatation toys and should not be used as such. If you are unsure if your floatation device is approved, please ask a lifeguard.
*Please note: Children who need a life jacket to swim must be accompanied in the water by an adult within arm's reach.
• Noodles: Allowed during Toddler and Parent/Child Swim Times, and for swim lessons by instructors. Noodles are not allowed during All Ages Swim (unless used for swimming practice specifically) or Family REC Swim.
• Kickboards: Allowed for swim lessons by instructors. Kickboards are not allowed during All Ages Swim (unless used for swimming practice specifically).
• Basket of toys: Allowed only during Toddler Swim Times. No toys will be out during Family REC Swim.
• Age Guidelines Must Be Followed: View the rules here for specific programming.
• No Horseplay or PDA: No wrestling, no splashing strangers, no dangerous behaviors. We want to keep Family REC swim a safe and appropriate space for everyone. Rough play in the pool puts everyone at risk. Please remember to be aware of your surroundings. Another way that we strive to maintain a family friendly facility is by limiting public displays of affection (PDA). Lifeguards will respectfully address concerns regarding excessive PDA in order to promote this family friendly environment.
• Cabana Policy: The cabanas are only for adults 18+ and parents/guardians with children. Anybody that is 17 or younger should not use a cabana alone, instead we ask that you change in the locker rooms located near the competition pool entrance.
• Common water items that are not allowed during Family REC Swim
• Snorkels • Fins • Rafts • Tubes • Water Guns
• Have Fun At Family REC Swim! Mostly we want you to have fun; we want your kiddos to be safe and learn to love the water and how to be a good community citizen. Please never hesitate to ask a question of the aquatic lead on duty (gray shirt) if you have one. Thank you for keeping an eye on your kids and enjoying the community blessing of The Kroc Center!
